Nothing brings back memories of good times like a few choice snaps and I love taking pictures when I’m out with friends and family.
But if you’re anything like me, you might be guilty of just using your smartphone rather than investing in a proper camera to get a decent picture.
My phone is always at hand and it’s easy to get some spontaneous pictures which I can set as my background or my screensaver. But have you ever tried to print out a picture taken with your smartphone? Although the quality might look great on such a small screen, when you blow it up to full size – or bigger – it can be a real disappointment.
So when it comes to a special event, or a time when I know I will want pictures I can print and keep forever, using a DSLR camera is the right choice.
But I have to be honest, I’ve gotten a bit lazy and don’t keep a decent camera in the house anymore; it’s an expense I just don’t need to pay for. Good cameras aren’t cheap and I’ll only use it now and again. Then of course, there are all the different lenses I’d need to buy; the cost of buying everything I want would be way out of my league.
That’s why I was so happy to discover the camera and lens rental service provided by the lovely folk at http://www.lenslocker.co.uk.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of using their services, you’ll be surprised at just how simple it all is.
They rent out cameras and lenses, as well as a range of other accessories too, allowing you to use top of the range photographic equipment for a fraction of the price. It’s like having a good mate with the best gear; borrow the goodies when you need them for as long as you want, then give them back once you’re done!
In a nutshell, this is how it works:
- Pick which camera and lens you want to borrow. A little tip: give yourself plenty of time to choose as there’s a huge selection to browse through! If you aren’t sure which one is right for you, there’s a helpful FAQ section plus the customer service team are always at the end of the phone if you need a hand.
- Wait for your chosen equipment to arrive. You will be amazed at just how quick this is…if you live in London, you could even get it the same day – how’s that for service?
- Use the equipment for the rental period you have booked. Don’t worry, if you are having too much fun playing with it to hand it back when you planned, www.lenslocker.co.uk will just extend the reservation for you (unless someone else has booked to use it after you). Just give them a call and they’ll do all the rest.
- When you’re ready to send the equipment back, just follow their instructions to return them safely and then you’re done!
It’s such a great concept; I don’t know why I didn’t know about this before!
LensLocker is perfect for both amateurs like me, and professional photographers because the range of equipment is so extensive. If you’re a pro and are thinking of buying a new lens, renting it out first gives you the chance to really put it through its paces before you splash the cash. Or you might just need a specialist effect for a certain project; LensLocker lets you access the equipment you need without blowing the budget.
No matter how much I love swiping through the photos on my phone, there’s something very special about having a real life picture that I can put on my wall or next to my bed. And when it comes to creating that perfect memory, I want to make sure I have the best equipment possible. All I have to say is thanks for your help LensLocker, I couldn’t have done it without you!
