The Pulitzer Prizes for 2012 have been announced in every category including photography. The two photo winners this year are truly impressive but really hard to look at, especially when reading the story behind the work.
Craig F. Walker earned the prize for Feature Photography thanks to his profile of Iraq and Afghan War vet Brian Scott Ostrom, who is dealing with an extreme case of post-traumatic stress disorder. The images detail his struggle to survive in the normal world and the difficulties that come with it.
Massoud Hossaini took home the award for Breaking News Photography with a shot of 12 year old Tarana Akbari, who stands screaming just moments after a suicide bomber attacked and killed a crowd of people in December of 2011.
