Nikon has finally announced the replacement to the D3/D3s with the introduction of the D4. This is a professional level dSLR that is aimed at those who make a living with their equipment; or those who just have a plentiful hobby fund. The D4 offers some impressive upgrades over past models, with Nikon promising “a new apex of speed and accuracy with unparalleled image quality, low-light capability and Full HD video.”.
If the Nikon D4’s specifications list doesn’t make you salivate; something is wrong with your salivary glands. The new flagship model boasts a 16-megapixel full frame (FX-format) CMOS image sensor, their EXPEED 3 processor, an upgraded 51-point AF system, a robust 91,000 pixel metering sensor, burst shooting at up to 10fps with AF/AE or 11fps with AF/AE locked, and much more. All this can be had for approx. $5,999.95 USD for the body only, which should be available late next month.
