There’s no question that we live in a very significant time for the photography industry. It used to be that cameras were something carried specifically with the intent of taking pictures, but now everyone and their mother has one built into their phones.
Not only that, but the ability to share photos has gotten easier thanks to services like Facebook. Ease of use is being favored over quality and people that have no knowledge of what makes a photograph good have become the majority.
But it’s not all bad news. Those cell phone photographers are getting interested in the good stuff and DSLR sales are actually up, as are sales for compact cameras. Pushing the quality message is going to be crucial moving forward.
