Technology keeps improving and cameras keep getting more and more impressive. Nowhere is that truer than in the mobile phone market, where cameras that once seemed like a joke are now replacing point-and-shoots for many people.
The latest sensor from Samsung is another sign of things to come in the future of camera phones. It’s based on the back side illuminated (BSI) architecture and is made to operate better than most in low-light environments.
“With this achievement, we are committed to lead the market by providing high-quality products demanded by consumers and businesses,” says Samsung’s Dojun Rhee.
Mass production of the new sensor will begin in the third quarter of this year, so you can expect to see it in phones by the end of 2011.
