Samsung’s new line of SD cards is designed with more than just functionality in mind, though they’re certainly functional. “It is our goal at Samsung to deliver superior performance, reliability and a stylish design across all of our product lines,” says senior VP Reid Sullivan, “including our memory line.”
Samsung boasts that its new cards are waterproof, shockproof and magnet proof. They’re able to withstand 3,200lbs of force and resist a 10,000 gauss magnetic field. The cards can even survive up to 24 hours in water.
The largest and speediest of these new offerings is a 16GB “Plus Extreme Series” card. This Class 10 card has a max read speed of 24MB/s, a max write of 21MB/s and an MSRP of $54.99. If you’re looking for something bigger, the 32GB card in the standard series gives you the same read speed, drops the write speed to 13MB/s and comes in at $89.99.
