Over 112,000 entries from 171 countries came in for consideration in the World Photography Awards – a significant amount of entries that’s been narrowed down to a list of a few finalists and shortlisted photographers per category.
Among the entrants are a few names you might recognize, including last year’s Landscape winner Peter Franck, 2011 Current Affairs winner Javier Arcenillas, and Chan Kwok Hung, who won last year’s Overall Open Competition with his image ‘Buffalo Race.’
“As a judge,” says WM Hunt of the Honorary Judging Committee, “you bring an open mind and a passion for photography – its presence and its present, its past and its legacy.” He says the most exciting part is to see something that inspires. “You are hopeful and hungry to see great work that is fresh and full, expecting the exceptional. The rewards are rich and delightful. It is a pleasure to present this year’s selections.”
