Sony Unveils a Powerful and Affordable New Alpha Model; the SLT-A57

Sony Unveils a Powerful and AffordableThe successor to the SLT-A55 from 2010, the A57, or SLT-A57, boasts an array of upgrades over its predecessor, with features we’ve come to expect from an Alpha model in 2012. While some of the A55′s core specs have been carried over, the A57 sports a 16.1-megapixel CMOS image sensor (the same unit found in the NEX-5N), an upgraded 15-point AF system, an enhanced Tru Viewfinder,  Superior Auto mode for less experienced users, and a host of manual controls for the more experienced shooters out there. On top of this, Sony incorporated a new body design with the A57, which is very similar to the look and feel of the SLT-A65. Sony also added some unique new scene modes, like Auto Portrait Framing, which automatically crops your portrait images using the rule of thirds, and saves the cropped image as a separate file; keeping the original intact.
